While I don't know the show, I really like this song. I love the noir-jazz style and that it is somewhat minimalistic. Only point of critique for me is that the drums don't sound to me as if they were recorded in the same room as the sax. Of course, they probably were not recorded in the same room, but I think it should sound like that. My favourite part were the last 58 seconds, as there were no drums and the song was calmer than before. Great job, though, I really could imagine this playing as the intro of a Noir detective series or game. Keep it up :)

Densle responds:

Thank you for you comment and feed back. But I do agree with your point as I am still working on my mixing skills.

But thank you very much.

I like this song very much, although I think The Old Factory of dreams is better. I don't agree with the previous review; I think the synth at the start is basic, yes, but nevertheless fitting. Only thing is, that it is too prominent throughout the song, which is probably because it is not so well embedded in the mix and too much on the left pan so it sticks really out of the song, whcih makes it annoying after a while. The melody is soothing and relaxing and overall pretty nice. An interlude in the song could make it more interesting, though. Keep it up. :)

Angelsosa responds:

Thanks, thanks a lot, really.

Is it WillFromAfar or a certain Captain everybody knows and loves? Anyway, nice track m8, very memeful.

TheBetterAudioPortal responds:

Good catch. It is indeed WillFromAfar!

Very nice track, sounds like a soundtrack or classic piece of music turned chiptune. I get really nostalgic listening to this song as I last heard a music piece like this back in the days when I played Dragon Warrior. This piece really reminds me of the music of DW as it also sounds like classic music but with chiptune instead of physical music instruments. The arrangement is really nice and varied, same for the melody. I especially love the triols in the second half of the song, really make the song more personal, I do not know really why, but that is my impression. Nice to listen to some new music. Great job, I'd love to hear more like that. :)

P.S.: Also nice background story. I suppose the machine is making the song, if I interprete the morse code correctly? "You are listening to the machine. We are still here"

Calamaistr responds:

Thank you, most of my work is a counterpoint manner of classical music 'with chiptune as its medium so you are correct in considering it classical. :) As for the story the morse code is a bit of a fourth wall breaker, it was referenced in "dream of the machine - 07 Fourthwall". It means the fiction connects and communicates with the reader, watcher or listener directly, the fourth wall is an imaginary wall between the public and the stage and when its broken it means that the public is made part of the story in some way. :) To 'the machine' in DOTM 07 i broke the fourth wall stating this world (the real world youre in) is part of this story quite literally, i wanted to create the idea that this was not fiction but the machine actually speaking to the listener, telling of an ancient past and future. Wich i perpetuated with this final album concerning a year that we would all become concious to this history. Ofcourse wether its actual or fiction can never be proven or disproven. I think thats the grace of this story. It stands firmly as a possibility. So yeah with the morse code i wanted to strenghten that fourth wall breaking, to have "the machine" speak to the listener/reader even beyond the soundtrack.

Thank you for your interest. -cal.

I really like this track. You really captured the feeling of suspense, although I find the noise-drone at the end a little bit too prominent. Since I imagine this song in a videogame like Deus Ex or Shadowrun, in an area where you are not allowed to be - a stealth mission sort of - then you would probably listen to this for quite a while and then this could be a bit distracting. I am talking about that drone-noise-pad that starts at 00:02, 0:12 and so forth. Other than that I think you really fulfilled your goal and I had no problems imagining this piece in a cyberpunk game/movie. Maybe a little bit more variation would be nice but since this is a WIP I think you will improve this. Other than that I can only say that from my perspective you are going in the right direction with this. Nice work :)

P.S.: While I am writing this I probably listened to the song for ~20 times and it is really not distracting but still keeps me sitting straight up in my chair. Good job!

Azhthar responds:

Thanks a lot for the input! Yep, it is probably a bit repitative, but I was supposed to make a 20 second ambient track. I could not imagine how this would not be repitative ;) I´ll definitely have a look at the drone nois pad. The noise pad I added to sustain a bit suspense without using dissonant harmonies in general, because these would be a bit unnerving in a background loop. Maybe I should reduce the volume a bit if it is too distracting... It´s definitely good to hear that it works!

THat this song has literally no exposure here on Newgrounds shows that there is something wrong. This is a masterpiece from my perspective. Everything sounds perfectly orchestrated, everything is at the right place, the atmosphere, the voice the sound of sand. I am listeing to this song for the last 30 minutes and I don't know why it only has 180 plays, and not a solid 5.00 rating. This belongs on the front page, it should be featured. Very good job, I really admire your work. This is professional level!

samulis responds:

haha, thanks man. I only wish I could make it more available. One of my favorite ambient/world works, even two years later.

This is great. I love it when there is a subtle electric guitar added to epic instrumental tracks. Really gives the song a certain edge. Also loops perfectly. The drums could get a little bit distracting after a while but if you only listen toi the song 2-3 times it does not matter. Really nice song, favorited.

Marifax responds:

Thank you for your kind words!

Bought all of the available downloads on bandcamp instantly. Great song, 5/5 would fish again.

A nice song, with very interesting parts and great variety. Really, it feels like nothing really repeats too often. I especially like the beginning, it sounds like a music box melody but then transforms into a part of the "real" song. The only concerns I have with this song is that sometimes the strings are too loud and too much on the right side. The other concern would be the end: although the end sounds great and is a nice change from the calmer other parts, there is no transition which makes the change a bit too harsh. Other than that it is a neat song, keep it up :)

Angelsosa responds:

Thanks a lot for your comment!

This song really sounds like an indie song. I think the instrumentation is very well arranged and the melody is uplifting and varies so it does not get boring. I like the little disonances during the main parts, it makes you listen more carefully to the song again. Also the mastering is very clear without clipping or mashing. Only thing that I don't like is that till 0:44 and from 1:35 till 2:40 the pan of the lead is too much on the left side, which is very distracting. But all in all a very nice piece of music. Keep it up :)

Angelsosa responds:

Thank you very much, glad you liked it!

Yeah, well, I make music.
